ABOUT CHRISTINE'S CATS CATTERY
A few words about savannah cats
Savannah cats are the hybrids that fulfill the breathtaking feral elegance that
coupled with a dog-like affectionate and trusting nature. It was created by crossing an African serval (wild cat) with a domestic cat. These hybrid cats are smaller and much more manageable than the serval. Males weigh between 8-15 kg, while females weigh around 5-10 kg. Their long and flexible bodies may appear larger and hevier. Beyond their size, they have a much more impressive personality. They are intelligent, playful, energetic and easy to teach. They love the company of other pets and can be quickly socialised.
The f1-f7 designation of savannah cats shows the number of degrees of how far they are from their serval ancestors.
F1 savannah cats are serval to their sire and domestic cats to their dam. Generation F2 has a serval as its grandfather. A licence is required to keep large generation (f1-f4) hybrids as they are registered as medium-risk wild animals. Permits must be obtained from the county wildlife office. from generation f5 onwards, no keeping permit is required. In fact, from this generation onwards we can speak of a savanna breed. The previous large generations can be called hybrids of the serval.
The males of generations f1 to f4 are sterile and cannot be used for breeding. All generations of females are fertile.
Their diet is similar to that of domestic cats with the addition of meat. So they should have fresh water and quality dry food available at all times and meat once or twice a day. Use the litter tray.
My breeding goal is to have extremely beautiful and friendly kittens. I select my breeding stock with great care. I not only look to achieve the perfect appearance but also use individuals with a friendly, open to people, easy to make friends nature for my program. Besides the standard colours (ranging from golden yellow to silver) I also have special shades like white, chocolate, blue and cinnamon.
